Our history of breakthroughs has revolutionized the world of clinical diagnostics. From our introduction of the first blood gas analyzer for routine blood gas testing to the Flame Photometer for chemistry electrolyte testing, to the invention of CO-Oximetry; our first fully automated Hemostasis analyzer to the most advanced platform for automated Hemostasis testing—our passion for innovation in R&D has made us leaders in quality in vitro diagnostic solutions. And today, more than 1.1 million patient samples are tested on IL systems each and every day.
We introduced the first direct-reading pH/blood gas analyzer (IL105) in 1959
We developed the Flame Photometer (IL143), revolutionizing chemistry electrolyte testing in 1964
We invented CO-Oximetry with the IL182 in 1968
In 1976, we introduced onboard continuous calibration (IL813), a major improvement in blood gas quality assurance
